When I was younger my dad always put redistribution of wealth in terms of my grades. He said, think about it like this: You go to class every single day and take notes. You study for your tests weeks in advance and have a limited social life because you NEED this A. Joe Shmoe never shows up to class, and when he does show he’s hung-over from the night before. He never does the homework assignments and fails all of the tests. He has a solid F. The teacher comes up with this marvelous plan to give part of your A to Joe so that you both get C’s and both pass the class. Now all of your hard work was pointless. How would you feel?
So today at The George Washington University’s Kogan Plaza the YAF students decided to play a sick joke on the conservatives like myself on campus. They have a petition to “redistribute GPA amongst the top 10% of GPA earners on campus to help boost the GPA of those on campus with lower GPAs evening out the campus’ GPA as a whole.” The YAF students are seeing how many people they can convince to sign-on for grade equality and people are actually signing. Funny thing is, the ones who are signing so far are the ones with C averages…
The test is to see how many people who agree with redistribution of wealth would feel the same about redistribution of their grades. I’ll update you all later.
